Text message consent

Help to Honor (HU Creations LLC) is a memorial-planning platform. Funeral homes use it to collect a family's details for memorial keepsakes, and families use a private Help to Honor page to share those details. Help to Honor sends text message reminders directly to families who have consented on that page. This page explains what those messages are, how a family agrees to receive them, and how to stop them.

What the messages are

Messages come from Help to Honor, identify Help to Honor as the sender, and mention the family's funeral home only for context. They are conversational and transactional, about one family's memorial page. They include a welcome message with the family's private link, occasional reminders when something is still needed (the obituary, photographs, keepsake choices) before the print deadline, a notice when a proof is ready to review, and delivery updates. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.

Message frequency varies with the memorial, typically two to six messages in total. Message and data rates may apply.

A family only receives texts after giving consent in one of two ways. Both can be tried on the working opt-in demonstration.

1. On their private family page

The second step of the family's guided page, "Where can [funeral home] reach you?", asks for a mobile number and shows a consent box. The step is optional and can be skipped. The same card also appears on the family's welcome screen so consent can be given or withdrawn at any time. The consent box reads:

By checking this box, I agree to receive text messages from Help to Honor about my family's memorial page with [funeral home]. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See the Privacy Policy and Terms.

The consent, the number, the date and time, and the source are recorded. The family can switch text reminders on or off from the same card at any time.

2. Verbal consent recorded by the funeral home

During the arrangement meeting, the funeral director reads the following to the family and, only if they agree, records their consent in the Help to Honor application, where it is stored with the date and time:

"Help to Honor, the service we use for memorial pages, can text you gentle reminders about your family's memorial page with [funeral home], and let you know when your proof is ready. Message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop, or HELP for help. Is that okay?"

The first message the family receives restates how to opt out.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for help. A family can also switch off text reminders from their page, or ask their funeral home to do so. Opt-outs apply across all of Help to Honor's messaging and are honoured immediately.

Privacy

Mobile numbers and consent records are used only to send the messages described above. They are not sold, and mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
