How a family opts in to text messages

This is a working demonstration of the two ways a family gives Help to Honor consent to text them. The family screen below is an exact copy of step 2 of a family's private memorial page. You can tick the box and press Continue; nothing is sent from this demo. The full policy is on the text message consent page.

1. The family opts in on their own page

Step 2 of the family's guided page, shown exactly as a family sees it on their phone. The step is optional; a family can continue without ticking.

Text reminders

Not switched on. This card sits on the family's welcome page so they can turn text reminders on or off at any time.

What is recorded when they tick: the mobile number, the exact wording shown, the date and time, and the source ("family page"). Unticking, replying STOP, or using the card above withdraws consent and stops all texts.

2. Or the funeral director records verbal consent

When the funeral director creates the family's page in the Help to Honor application, the form shows this. The director reads the wording to the family and ticks the box only if they agree. The consent is stored with the date and time.

What happens next

  1. The first text the family receives is the welcome message, which names Help to Honor as the sender and restates how to opt out: "Hi Sarah, this is Samuel from Help To Honor. Your private page for James's memorial with Grace Memorial is ready. There's no rush, it saves as you go: https://… Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
  2. Later messages are reminders about the same page (obituary, photographs, keepsake choices), a notice when the proof is ready, and delivery updates. Typically two to six messages in total.
  3. Replying STOP ends all texts immediately; HELP returns contact details. Both are honoured across the whole platform.
